Barbara van den Hoofdakker is als klinisch psycholoog/gedragstherapeut en bijzonder hoogleraar werkzaam bij Accare kinder- en jeugdpsychiatrie en de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen.

Zowel in haar klinische werkzaamheden als haar wetenschappelijk onderzoek hebben behandelingen voor gedragsproblemen bij kinderen haar speciale interesse. Sinds 2013 combineert ze haar onderzoeks- en klinische werkzaamheden met de functie van hoofdopleider van de Groningse post-masteropleiding tot gezondheidszorg (GZ) psycholoog, variant kind en jeugd. Vanaf september 2019 is ze tevens waarnemend hoofdopleider van de post-masteropleiding tot klinisch psycholoog in Groningen.
