Marielle Dekker werkt als programmaleider bij de Academische Werkplaats Kajak en is in die functie betrokken bij diverse onderzoeken, onderzoeksaanvragen, werkgroepen (handreikingen/e-learning modules) en de organisatie van AW Kajak studiedagen.

Daarnaast werkt ze voor het Landelijk Kenniscentrum LVB aan o.a. projecten gericht integraal werken en opgroeien naar volwassenheid/transitiepsychiatrie. Tenslotte is ze verantwoordelijk voor de coördinatie van de collegiale visitatiecyclus van de VOBC, neemt ze deel aan de visitaties bij orthopedagogische behandelcentra en is ze verantwoordelijk voor de rapportage.

Marielle studeerde psychologie (klinische psychologie & methoden en technieken van psychologisch onderzoek) en promoveerde aan de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam op een grootschalig onderzoek naar psychopathologie bij jeugdigen met verstandelijke beperkingen. Daarna werkte zij 15 jaar als postdoc en senior onderzoeker/projectmanager aan diverse onderzoeksprojecten met als rode draad psychopathologie, neurocognitieve functies en verstandelijke beperkingen. Marielle heeft veel ervaring in het opzetten, coördineren en uitvoeren van onderzoek binnen de werkvelden van de psychiatrie, ortho-, gezins- en neuropedagogiek.

Marielle Dekker zet zich in om kennis over diagnostiek en behandeling bij jeugdigen en jongvolwassenen met verstandelijke beperkingen en psychiatrische problemen te bundelen, te ontwikkelen en te verspreiden en om onderzoek op dit grensvlak te stimuleren.
